Maine

We're in Maine. Pretending we're on vacation. When you bring a 3 month
old child across the country, its not really a vacation. Its really
nice, though. Jack was an awesome traveller, but now he's crabby baby.
I guess you can't win them all.

Vacation!

we are headed out the door in a couple hours, on our way to maine for a week. yeah, vacation!!

we will be traveling over 3000 miles with our 3.5 month old son. we are a little nervous. travel involves a 5 hour flight to boston, a 2 hour layover, a 1.5 hour flight to bar harbor, a 30 car ride to the dock, a 15 minute ferry ride, and then another 10 minute car ride to the house. not that i've thought it out or anything.

i have a feeling he will be a good little traveler. i hope he's a good little traveler. i would be more than happy to take this kid around the world if he's up for it. we figured we'd start with maine. it's pretty much as far as we can go and still be in the united states.

needless to say, there will not be any blog updates until we return. we will be on an island off the coast, with no cell phone reception and limited internet access. i can't tell you how much i'm looking forward to this.

will have plenty of pictures to post upon our return july 3rd!

Solstice Parade!

we celebrated the longest day of the year by heading down to Fremont to watch the solstice parade. which if you're not familiar with the event, is mostly an excuse for residents of this city to wear little to no clothes (the parade opens with a naked bike ride) or just dress totally outrageous.
most of the "floats" didn't make much sense, and really most of them were a little on the creepy side...but jack seemed to enjoy himself. it was a long afternoon, and he did well. no meltdowns from any of us!
someday he'll look back at these pictures and have proof of how weird his parents really are.

happy summer everyone!

Jack's first car.

If Ali would let me, I'd buy this car, store it, and give it to jack
on his 16th birthday. I think he'd enjoy picking up his prom date in
this rig. Or going on a cross-country crime spree.

Its a good thing Ali thinks most of my good ideas are bad.

Hi Ali! Love you!

3 months old!

wow, three months has gone so fast!

it's amazing how much jack has grown and changed in such a little time. he's getting stronger, smarter, and more interactive every day. he really makes eye contact and focuses on faces, and pretty much anything that flashes in front of his face.

he is also getting very responsive to the sound of our voices...which is really neat. it's fun to hear him "talk" to us, and it seems he has alot to say...especially in the morning. he's a real "chatty cathy". my favorite part is his smile and laugh, he reallly likes to have his belly and toes tickled!

yesterday he spent the day at our first softball game...it was a double-header, and a bit of a long day for him (and for mom, to be honest!). he was content just hanging out with dad on the sidelines for most of the second game, and seemed to enjoy his first official beer run. we'll have the kid trained in no time!

this month we're hoping to make the transfer into his crib, as he's still in the co-sleeper at night (next to our bed). we'll miss having him next to us...but we're hoping to make the transition now before the separation anxiety really kicks in (for him and us both).

we're due for another milestone here soon, and we've been working on rolling over and toe-grabbing...so hopefully we'll have something to report soon!

xoxo

here's lookin' at you, dad!
